ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS (ALN)

At Llangatwg we are proud of the support that we offer for our learners with Additional Learning Needs. We feel that all learners within the school are supported well, and that we have positive working relationships with learners and their families, as well as other individuals and organisations that work with the young person. We feel that the support, guidance and interventions that we offer is tailored to meet the needs of each learner individually, and that this support is monitored and adapted in a pupil-centred way.

Additional Learning Needs legislation in Wales is changing, and this is known as the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Reform. At Llangatwg, we are working hard to prepare for these changes, and are looking forward to the additional support that this will bring for our learners with additional learning needs.

The law is changing for several reasons:

  • The child or young person’s needs might be found too late
  • The support might be provided to the young person too late
  • The young person and their parents/carers might not be involved enough in planning
  • The current system can be complicated to understand
  • The law only currently covers children and young people up to the age of 19
  • The new legislation for ALN will bring about several main changes for ALN. It:
  • Brings together all current systems into a new, single system for ALN
  • Is pupil centred, where young people and their parents are completely involved in decision making
  • Provides learners with the same type of statutory plan (Individual Development Plan or IDP), irrespective of age or setting
  • Improves transition between settings
  • Allows further Welsh language provision
  • Is a fair and transparent system for all.

Supporting information is available for parents and learners, and evening sessions have been run at Llangatwg to look at the changes that will come into place. A video to explain the changes that are coming into place for those learners with additional learning needs can be found by clicking the link.

Yn Llangatwg rydym yn falch o'r gefnogaeth a gynigiwn i'n dysgwyr ag Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol. Credwn fod pob dysgwr yn yr ysgol yn cael cefnogaeth dda, a bod gennym berthnasoedd gwaith cadarnhaol gyda dysgwyr a'u teuluoedd, yn ogystal ag unigolion a sefydliadau eraill sy'n gweithio gyda'r person ifanc. Teimlwn fod y gefnogaeth, yr arweiniad a'r ymyriadau a gynigiwn wedi eu teilwra i ddiwallu anghenion pob dysgwr yn unigol, a bod y gefnogaeth hon yn cael ei monitro a'i haddasu mewn ffordd sy'n canolbwyntio ar y disgybl.

Mae deddfwriaeth Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol yng Nghymru yn newid, a gelwir hyn yn Ddiwygio Tribiwnlys Anghenion Dysgu ac Addysg Ychwanegol. Yn Llangatwg, rydym yn gweithio'n galed i baratoi ar gyfer y newidiadau hyn, ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen at y gefnogaeth ychwanegol y bydd hyn yn ei rhoi i'n dysgwyr ag anghenion dysgu ychwanegol.

Mae'r gyfraith yn newid am sawl rheswm:

  • Dod o hyd i anghenion y plentyn neu'r person ifanc yn rhy hwyr.
  • Efallai y bydd y gefnogaeth yn cael ei darparu i'r person ifanc yn rhy hwyr.
  • Efallai na fydd y person ifanc a'i rieni/gofalwyr yn cymryd rhan ddigonol mewn cynllunio.
  • Gall y system gyfredol fod yn gymhleth i'w deal.
  • Ar hyn o bryd dim ond plant a phobl ifanc hyd at 19 oed mae'r gyfraith yn eu cynnwys.
  • Bydd y ddeddfwriaeth newydd ar gyfer ADY yn arwain at sawl prif newid ar gyfer ADY. Mae'n:
  • Dwyn ynghyd yr holl systemau cyfredol i fewn i system sengl newydd ar gyfer ADY.
  • Canolbwyntio ar y disgybl, lle mae pobl ifanc a'u rhieni'n chwarae rhan lawn yn y broses o wneud penderfyniadau.
  • Darparu'r un math o gynllun statudol i ddysgwyr (Cynllun Datblygu Unigol neu CDU), beth bynnag eu oedran neu eu lleoliad.
  • Gwella trosglwyddo rhwng lleoliadau.
  • Caniatáu am fwy o’r darpariaeth Gymraeg.
  • System deg a thryloyw i bawb.

Mae gwybodaeth ategol ar gael i rieni a dysgwyr, a chynhaliwyd sesiynau yn Llangatwg i edrych ar y newidiadau a ddaw yn eu lle. Isod fe welwch ddolenni i daflenni cymorth a gwybodaeth bellach am sut y bydd y newidiadau yn effeithio ar ddysgwyr a'u teuluoedd, os oes angen unrhyw wybodaeth bellach arnoch am y newidiadau, yna rydym yn eich croesawu i gysylltu â ni. Gallwch gysylltu â ni yn yr ysgol a gofyn am gael siarad â'r Cydlynydd Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol, Mr. Scott Barnes, neu'r Cydlynydd Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol Cynorthwyol, Mr. Gavin Thomas.
